The ‘leave balance’ dashboard can be used to provide an overview of the days of absence remaining for the various absence types. This could be useful to check that enough leave is being taken throughout the year so that not all holidays have to be used up at the end of the year.

Which balances are displayed?

For each type of absence, a balance can be assigned to an employee. A balance has a validity period. In the example below, the employee has a starting balance of 160 hours holiday, of which 18 hours have already been taken. This balance is valid from 01/01/2023 until 31/12/2023.

The dashboard displays the balances which are valid in the period you have selected.

Imagine that the following balances are defined for all employees:

Absence balance

Valid from

Valid to

Holiday

01/01/2022

31/12/2022

Holiday

01/01/2023

31/12/2023

Days carried from previous year

01/01/2023

31/03/2023

If you request the balances for the period 01/01/2023 until 31/01/2023 on the dashboard, all the balances from the latter two rows are displayed, i.e., both the regular holiday balance from 2023 and the days carried forward from the previous year.

If you request the balances for the period 01/07/2023 until 31/07/2023, only the holiday balance from 2023 will be displayed and not the days carried from the previous year because these are not valid for the requested period.

Filters

As well as filtering for the period and department, you can also filter for absence type on this dashboard.

Hours per type

This graphic shows the total number of remaining hours for all employees per type of absence, as well as the total number of hours initially defined (the total of all starting balances).

Hours per workspace

This graphic shows the remaining number of hours and total of all initial balances for all employees, per workspace. You can use the filters on the left-hand side to exclude certain absence types from the total, for example.
